New School

We went to the new-school meeting last evening to see our new school’s principal and some of the teachers. Because the school we’ve been assigned to isn’t finished being built yet, we had to all meet at another school.

I’m happy that the principal has many years of experience, and she’s bringing what she calls “the best of the best” teachers with her. (Yes, I realize this may well be just her using politicalese.) Listening to and watching the principal and teachers, I believe they’re good, and I’m satisfied that our new school will be at least decent.

And it’s kind of cool that we’re getting a brand new school. It’s being built with the most up-to-date, and new and interesting, designs, so it looks like it’ll be a fun place for the kids. Heck, I’m excited to see and walk around in the new building. So although we fought the re-zoning of our school district, and lost, it looks like we’ll have a good new school.

Now we just have to get used to the year-round calendar. Calgrit7 finishes this year in June, and then starts 2nd grade in July. Being in school over the summer is gonna to feel strange.
