Long Shorts

The trend for men’s shorts has gotten worse and worse over the years. Why are men’s shorts getting longer and longer? When the bottom of “shorts” start reaching below the knees, they are not “shorts” anymore — they’re capris. Sorry fellas, but no matter how many pockets you have on your “shorts,” they’re still capris.

When it’s damn hot (that’s 10 degrees higher than “hot”) outside, I want shorts. I’m not meaning “short shorts” like Daisy Duke wears, but come on, give me shorts that stop above the knees. Even swim trunks now go below the knees. I don’t want pants for swimming in a pool.

It took me a lot of looking around to find swim trunks that stopped above my knees. But my boys’ swim pants go to nearly their ankles. It’s insane.

Women’s shorts and swim suits have gone the opposite direction, (with my approval). It’s like they’ve taken the material from women’s pants and added it to men’s shorts. Why is it that fashion is never functional or intelligent, and functional and intelligent is never fashionable?
