Calfgrit13 wants another pet. We currently have two dogs, and used to have a guinea pig (twice). For several weeks, now, he’s been talking about parakeets. Constantly. We’ve humored his interest, but we’ve been hesitant (reluctant) to OK the idea. But then Friday night, he stepped up his discussion to a full-fledged sales pitch.
Friday evening he called his mother and me into the family room, sat us down on the sofa, and launched into a prepared presentation on the awesomeness of parakeets and why we should let him get one.
I thought he had been working on school work all day.
When he needed to use the printer, I thought he was working on a school project.
He did a great job with all his research. He could answer all our questions, he even gave us information before we asked. He was quite impressive. But we need to do some research of our own before we decide on whether to get a parakeet. Data sheets are useful, printed images are pretty, and a knowledgeable salesman is helpful, but we need some advice from families who have actual real-world experience with these birds.
