Talk Box From Far, Far Away
Me and the boys were riding in the van with some good old rock and roll playing on the radio. I’m so happy that my boys like my old music.
Peter Frampton came on with “Do You Feel Like We Do”. I love that song from his Frampton Comes Alive! album. Doesn’t everyone?
When Peter was into his talk box part, Calfgrit7 asked, “Dad, is this Star Wars music?”

wow, he must really be hung up on star wars. although, i can see where he could say that during that part…but..let’s introduce the boys to some new music as well…i could think of a good place to start…
I have never understood what he was doing in that song. I thought he was doing something with his guitar. What is a talk box?
a talk box is and effect used with the guitar and microphone to make the sounds that is made i that song.(using your voice) richie sambora also uses one on “living on a prayer” from bon jovi. a rubber tube runs from the mic to the effect box, so using the tub and mic you get the sound. being that i’m a drummer, that’s the best ay i can explain it…hope it helps.
I didn’t get the Star Wars “connection” until I listened to the song again in your link. Now I see how your son could think about Star Wars. That is pretty funny.
My kids are constantly amazed whenever they discover that they like some song from my era (and I can’t believe I just referred to the 1980′s as an era – sniff, sniff).
And it’s not because they love the song or anything … they just can’t get over how old the singer/group would be now, in mom years.
is this star wars music??!! LOL
